Easy Analysis Creator for Baan Report

Purpose of the Wizard

Baan report is a special data source. There are no ready available field descriptions for report variables. Further the user creating the analysis may not know the VRC in which the report exist in run time. Further before creating the analysis, user may want to view report input variables / report layout variables / available layouts etc. This necessitates a user friendly interface which helps user to create analyses out of Baan report easily.

Procedure

1. Select Session Name

All sessions opened for the user (i.e. his/her bshell) will come by default for the user. Further this session can be accessed only if the user running the session is maintained in the list of authorized users (tudll9199m000 / Maintain User data). Further user can add any valid Baan session here in this session. This session is for each user (i.e. many users can run this parallel).

User has to select (double-click) the session to which Baan report is attached. And the screen in step 2 appears.

2. Select Reports by Session

This session will show all the reports (printed with rprt_send() function) available for a particular se ssion. Report printed using brp.ready function will not come. User need not worry about the function used in the script) as majority of the Baan sessions use rprt_send function for printing report. Further user can add any valid existing report here (as is the case for report printed using brp.ready function).

Selecting the report required for the analysis, screen in step 3 will appear. Users need not bother about the VRC from which the report is printed.

3. Select tables (report layouts) by Report

If the user wishes to see the report input variables at this stage he/she can see the same using button “Input variables” which has all the relevant information like input field , field description (table field description for table field / domain description ) , data type , domain , sort mode etc . User can get broad idea of the input fields available in the report.

Further if the user wishes to see the output field available / printed in a particular layout , user has to mark the same layout and click button “Layout fields”. Following screen will appear .

All valid layouts (Detail, After Field and After report) for which analysis can be created will be shown with * for user convenience. These are the layouts a user can mark on the screen. The other layouts are just for information and display for user to understand the report as a whole. Further if there are many already any analyses created on the layout, the number of analyses will be shown in reverse font after the field ‘Analysis Code’.

If the user wishes to create an analysis from a valid layout, the user need to key in the analysis code, mark the layout record and switch to analysis form. Analysis form can not be switched to if the layout is not selected and an analysis code is not written.

When the analysis form is switched to, following screen appears.

If the analysis code already exist for the report and the layout the all related analysis information will be shown. Else user has to fill up all analysis details. For more information about the fields and buttons, please see Analysis Creation for Baan Report .

The user authorization is already created for the user creating the analyses in the current company. The user can change / view authorization from the button also.

If the analysis is already created, Create analysis is of no use. The user can however maintain the query fields and include the analysis, maintain excel sheet attributes , modify user authorization.
